Scotch Homes Wins Parade of Homes Award

The Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders recently wrapped up the 2016 Parade of Homes in Birmingham AL. This was the 60th edition of this annual event that showcases new homes, and innovative building and design trends. Awards are given in a variety of categories, and this year, Scotch Homes was the recipient of one of these awards for one of their homes in Laurel Grove.

Scotch Homes was awarded silver for their house in the Birmingham/Hwy 280 $500,000- $650,000 category. This special house in Laurel Grove was custom built for an injured veteran and even includes an elevator. Other handicap-accessible features include a spacious shower with built-in grab bars, and a ramp that provides easy access for a wheelchair into the upstairs media room.
Of course, all of the houses that Scotch Homes build contain top-quality features that make the homes stand out. Their open floor plans focus on providing plenty of gathering spaces for the family, including large kitchen islands, and 10-foot ceilings with seven-inch crown molding, and rounded sheetrock corners.

This award-winning home includes a fabulous coffered ceiling in the open-plan kitchen/family room, as well as fireplace in the family room, providing a feeling of warmth and comfort. Other attractive elements that made it stand out at the 2016 Parade of Homes in Birmingham AL include personalized light fixtures, a honed-granite kitchen island and sink, flagstone patio flooring on the front and back porch, and even an outdoor stone fireplace.

A feeling of privacy is found throughout the Laurel Grove community, as their classic-style homes are built on one-acre or more lots. The homes are designed to look as if they grew naturally, with plenty of greenery and natural areas maintained on each lot. This gives every family their privacy, yet the community is just minutes away from schools, healthcare, shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and more.
